It was an honor having Christian Laettner and his Basketball Academy in Bemidji, MN this past year (Fall 2012). The 115 kids that attended the clinic received top notch instruction on the fundamentals of the game, varied opportunities for skill development as well as drills they can work on in the gym or backyard. Christian is an incredible communicator that breaks down the game to its most basic components. He was thoroughly engaged with the kids that attended the clinic, no matter what their skill level was. It was an added bonus having him share his wealth of knowledge with our college’s mens team. I was equally impressed with how personable Christian was, giving time to each person he met and offering an encouraging word. Simply put, Christian has a love and passion for teaching the game of basketball and it shows. The positive remarks I heard from the kids, parents and our college athletes was enough to book a date to have him back. I would highly recommend a “basketball legend” and his Basketball Academy to all coaches/organizations that desire a positive means to enhancing the skills of their players, no matter what the age. On behalf of the Bemidji community, I send a huge “thank you” to Christian for his time in our community!

Dan Hovestol – Director of Athletics at Oak Hills Christian College

“We appreciated Christian so much! He was straight forward, direct, and on target with his coaching tips and approach. He really connected with the kids, and he knows how to direct his teaching to each age level. The kids were so inspired by his love of the game. His organization of the camp was excellent. We can’t wait for more time with Christian!”

Doug and Lisa Currey – Vail Christian High School Parents

“Our 3 days with Christan Laettner were fantastic! The players learned a lot about passing, dribbling, catching, and shooting layups in a relatively short time….their confidence skyrocketed. The coaches were inspired by Christian’s fundamental approach to playing and teaching the game….each day was like attending an outstanding coaches’ clinic….all of the coaches were energized. I’ve never seen our entire school community (players, coaches, students of all ages, parents, etc.)so fired up for Saints Basketball! All in all, an unforgettable experience….one that we hope will happen again and again in the years to come. Thanks, Christian, for coming to Vail Christian!”

It was an honor, to have a basketball icon such as Christian Laettner conduct a basketball clinic in Grand Rapids. We were very impressed with the amount of knowledge and skill building he brought to everyone that attended. It did not matter if it was the local high school teams, the youth that attended the clinic or the coaches. He was able to bring his experience and knowledge of the game to all that attended. We are looking forward to continuing our relationship that we have build with Christian and I know that the local players are excited to have him back. We would recommend to coaches of all levels to have Mr. Laettner conduct a clinic for your team.

This was truly an awesome event for the youth in our community. The quality of instruction provided by Christian Laettner was second to none. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!

Christian Laettner held a combination youth camp, varsity workout sessions and coaches clinic in Grand Rapids this Fall (2011). It was a huge success. With only a few weeks to promote we had over 120 players and a couple dozen coaches participated in a full day and a half of fun and fundamentals. Christian challenged our varsity players to learn how to play the game at a fast pace but with an emphasis on team work and moving/defending off the ball. Sound ball management was demanded in each drill he ran and his emphasis on power layups has made a lasting impression….two weeks after this camp our big ninth grade post player will still verbally correct himself if he goes up soft and off one leg in traffic….(“I know, go off two”)

Christian had a great session with our youth players as well. His station work was varied and fundamentally sound (“fundamental” is the operative word for the whole weekend). Christian was very vocally engaged throughout the session as he went from station to station correcting, encouraging and challenging kids to get better. Quoting one of our coaches “He (Christian) has a great skill at watching a player of any age and skill level and finding easy to grasp ways to elevate their game”. The campers finished the session with a competitive and fun series of full court drills designed to make the kids faster, more fluid and competitive….and the kids had lots of fun. All in all it was an outstanding day and a great way for us to kick off our new season.

Our basketball community was thrilled with the weekend Christian spent with us and plan to bring him back in the coming summer for hopefully a longer stay. As one basketball booster said “our kids just had a chance to learn from one of the very best…if we don’t have a successful season it must be our local coaches’ fault”. Boosters you can’t live without them and…..Thanks again Christian for a great weekend of hoops!

Since first exchanging information with Christian early in the summer of 2011, I have had the unique opportunity of training with him on two invaluable occasions. Besides the wealth of knowledge about the game that Christian possesses, he is an incredibly personable individual who is easy to talk to and easy to learn from. His ability to captivate and dictate compliments the style in which he teaches people how to play. By taking me through a few simple drills during our first workout session, he was able to assess both the strengths and weaknesses in my game, and tailor the follow up sessions to maximize benefits. I cannot express enough the amount I learned from Christian during our training sessions. I have since seen great improvements in not only small technical details of my game, but also in my general attitude toward how I play the game. Through his constant positive reinforcement and extensive experience, Christian has helped me gain confidence on the court mentally, while also improving my physical skills. I look forward to staying in contact with Christian, both as a friend and as a mentor, as I move forward in my career on the court. Thanks Chris, I owe you man.

“Christian Laettner’s basketball clinics at the Priory were filled with excitement and joy, as my group of middle school and high school players excelled during the sessions. Over three days of clinics it was great learning all of the valuable life lessons and basketball skills that propelled Laettner to a Hall of Fame career. The only way I can describe his teaching ability of the game is Kryzewski like, as the kids learned advanced concepts with ease. My players have also taken those concepts and applied them early in our season leading us to great success. His willingness to answers any question from his time as high school player, to his time with the dream team allowed everyone involved to connect with him on such a deep level. It was like working out with family. Over my 25 years being involved in basketball, I have never seen this kind of genuine involvement from such a big time athlete. Not only did he do basketball, but also assisted me in my goal to raise funds for a new gym, by having dinner with many of my boosters. This made his arrival a treat for the whole community and not just the players on my team. I would highly recommend that any coach wanting to create a positive change in his program and community bring Christian Laettner in for his priceless clinics.”
